Nike is one of the world’s biggest – if not the biggest – shoe brands, and it has a very interesting history. For example, did you know that the name of the brand influenced by the name of an Ancient Greek goddess who was related to victory? Her Roman name was Victoria, as in victory, do you see the link?
In Ancient Greek mythology, Nike was the daughter of the Titan Pallas and the goddess Styx, and Nike is very often portrayed in Classical Greek works of art as a woman flying around battlefields, rewarding the victors with glory and fame.
Although you will have your own opinions on whether this is true or not, what can be said is that Nike is a seriously interesting brand. Today, Nike is one of the most successful footwear, sportswear and apparel brands all over the world, if not the most successful one.
Nike is a super inspiring brand which has its presence known and felt all over the globe. It is a brand which is known amongst the professional sports world, too. Nike was founded by Phil Knight who created the company when he was writing a college paper.
Fast forward about 5-6 decades and here we are, in a time where Nike sells almost 1 billion of its products each year, spanning across many lines such as footwear, sports equipment and general apparel. That’s quite the achievement, given that Nike was created whilst Knight was still in college.
What makes Nike so great is that they do everything they can to make their products available and affordable, even though they’re arguably one of the best in the business when it comes to quality. You can easily get your hands on some kind of Nike discount or lowered price due to a sale, and this is undeniably one of Nike’s strongest points when it comes to pleasing the customer.
Not only does Nike make major sales each year, but it is a brand which has strong core values and a good ethos. It seriously cares about the environment, and strives for sustainability throughout the production process with advanced technology and the use of recycled materials. They also use innovative dying technologies where they dye fabric without using any water at all, which is estimated to have saved over 20 million litres!
Without a doubt, Nike is the most formidable and the leading sportswear brand throughout the world. Wherever you go, you will see somebody wearing some sort of Nike product. Whether it is shoes, a hoodie or even on someone’s wrist, Nike is everywhere.
